Derwent Manor Hotel Wedding Photography – Andrea & Jonny

Andrea and Jonny tied the knot in a beautifully emotional wedding ceremony held at Derwent Manor Hotel in County Durham. The hotel is deceptive. On approach it looks as though it’s going to be quite small and plain. Inside however, it has the most spectacular ballroom and so much space! I was blown away by it.

Somehow, despite being less than fifteen minutes away from the hotel, I had never had the pleasure of working there before. I love to work at new venues because they give me new challenges and new scenery. Derwent Manor offered some gorgeous backdrops and the ceremony room is really spectacular. I’m keeping my fingers crossed I can work here again because it’s such a fantastic place to wed. My wedding photography takes me to some incredible venues, and I’m pleased to add Derwent Manor to the list.

I arrived nice and early and was greeted by many cheerful guests enjoying the sunshine, as well as a slightly nervous Jonny. I’m not sure what he was so worried about because when Andrea walked down the aisle she looked truly stunning. Not only that but sometimes the love that two people have for each other is almost tangible, and this was one of those days. The emotion was running high and many guests were moved to tears. It was a wonderful ceremony.

We took a handful of family photos, and after that the day was pure reportage. I thoroughly enjoyed making my way through people being silly, telling jokes, and enjoying the day. Lots of people wanted off-the-cuff portraits, and I am never disappointed to see a box of hats and props. That said I’m still not sure the Donald Trump mask shouldn’t have been saved for a different event; Hallowe’en perhaps?

A Grand Wedding Day

I love the elegant styling of Andrea and Jonny’s wedding. Andrea’s dress was a simple shape but had beautiful lace detailing that was complimented by Jonny’s equally stylish and understated suit. Andrea had also chosen a white and green bouquet that maintained the theme. Lilies are one of my favourite flowers and I love how the florist contrasted the grand statement of the lily with the equally gorgeous yet tiny gypsophilia. The cake maintained the blue and white theme, and the hotel even changed the mood lighting in the ballroom to blue so that it would match in as well. How’s that for attention to detail?

Andrea and Jonny had a wonderful wedding, and it was a great pleasure to be a part of it. Congratulations to you both, it was a blast!
