Vallum Farm Wedding Photography - Rachel & Ste
I think there’s something really romantic about a late summer wedding, especially farm weddings. The long lazy days, the warm summer sun, acres of ripening crops in the fields. It’s idyllic!
Rachel and Ste tied the knot at Vallum Farm in Northumberland in early August, with the tall sun-bleached grasses making a perfect backdrop for some gorgeous wedding portraiture.
But I’m getting ahead of myself! The start of the day; oh the start of the day was lovely! Rachel got ready at home with their two girls who both got personalised bunnies sporting matching flower girl outfits. If that’s not cool then I don’t know what is! Getting ready at home is rarer than it used to be, so it’s a treat for me to photograph as people’s personalities really shine through in the images. Not only do people have the comfort of their own space, but there’s also the surroundings which display the colour of their lives.
In particularly fabulous fashion Rachel travelled to Vallum in a VW camper, before walking down the aisle in the marquee. It was emotionally overwhelming for both of their daughters, and those feelings were shared by many. It was a lovely ceremony and the drinks were very well received afterwards.
We had a stack of hay bales for portraits - because who wants super formal portraits at a farm? - and the camper van, fields and pond for the couple’s shoot. I adore these images, they’re so summery and warm (even if it did start spitting with rain towards the end).
Ste’s speech was very heartfelt and Rachel ended up reading the latter half herself. It was a beautiful and supportive move which was touching and humorous, and one of those little defining moments that lets you know that these two are good together.
The first dance kicked off the evening in style and I took my leave feeling ever so slightly jealous of the noisy knees-up that was just kicking off. What a way to start married life! What a fantastic start to a marriage.
